Ah! That first harvest!! A joy that knows no bounds... a harbinger for that everlasting hope and a gentle sigh of relief that hey, it is all coming along ok. There is so much emotion when you pick the first few gems from your garden, be it a little or a lot! My first pluck was true to that. I felt so, so gratified, happy, elated, joyous... just precious!
And, literally, the next day, I was slammed by just exactly how precious it had been! If you have been following my instagram, I have it all over the stories. But, none of that now; more, perhaps, in the next post. For now, I am going to stay in and relive the simple joy of that bowl above of fresh picked garden goodness as I tell you about it. :-)
Remember those leftover pea seedlings, that I did not have space in the ground for? Well, they became part of this first harvest too! Nothing else I could do with them. Since, these plants were older than you would typically have for a pea-shoot salad, they were a little tougher but still they had crunch and I did not have the heart to trash them. So, I used them sandwiched with soft avocado and fluffy egg omelette, for contrast! :)
